This pair of Bastanis Apollo speakers is in excellent condition and working perfectly. This amazing speaker is so revolutionary it will forever change the way you listen to music.
Most modern speakers no matter what their maker’s claim are all cut from similar technology and in my opinion have lost the spring to life quality the most famous vintage speakers impart on music playback. Bastanis has designed a speaker with breakthrough elements while still paying homage to the very best classic speakers.
Some Details:
Proprietary Wideband Driver
The primary driver is a 12 inch wide-band with Alnico magnet. This drivers cone has been treated proprietary oil and is subsequently heat-treated and exposed to resonance harmonization by means of specifically altered violin varnish . There is no crossover in the circuit to the wideband and it plays from about 100Hz to 10KHz producing most of the music spectrum.
Proprietary Gemini Horn Loaded DipoleTweeter
This Dipole Tweeter is attached to a wooden short horn and has a single Jupiter Beeswax capacitor crossing it over to handle from about 10KHz on up.
Open Baffle Array
Both the 12-inch wideband and dipole horn tweeter are mounted in an ingenious open baffle assembly. This assembly is a combination of wood with a beautiful black lacquer finish, Natural finished wooden short horn - for the tweeter, and a grill cloth covered wire mesh that encloses the rear of the drivers while still allowing sound to pass through.
Powered Bass Section
Powered bass section uses a high performance 15 inch woofer in a below resonance sealed enclosure and a custom built high current amplifier with full adjustable crossover . This crossover includes frequency, gain control and variable phase adjustment, which allows a seamless blend to the open baffle array . The bass sections amplifier/crossover unit can be driven by both line level and speaker level so you can drive it from a preamp with an extra set off line level outputs or it can be driven from your favorite amplifiers speaker outputs.

Unit’s powered bass section can be user switched to operate on any power system worldwide – switch is on the amplifier panel at the back of the cabinet.

Efficiency of the bass unit is not relevant since it is active.

All this adds up to a speaker with - stunning dynamics like the best vintage speaker designs – huge sound staging like the best dipole and electrostatic design – and the coherence of the best vintage and current crossover-less full range speaker designs.
Amplifier Recommendations - The Apollo's are ideally suited to be powered by Single Ended Tube and OTL tube amplifiers . With their high efficiency they need very little power to reach concert sound pressure levels and with their high impedance they work well with both vintage and current tube amplification .
Condition – Speakers are in great condition and have about 200 hours of playtime .
There are a couple of very minor abrasions that are very hard to see
one of the bass cabinet grills and some around the bottom of the bass
cabinets pedestal. One of the pedestals that attach to the bottom of
the base cabinet has corner damage. This is the back left corner. This
pedestal is not part of the bass cabinet and does not affect the sound
or function of the speaker in any way
